  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Here's a man who likes his cars, knows quality but is not brash or a show off. Quietly confident.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Nothing but encouraging comments to date.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Sadly discontinued but if they had continued it, I probably would.

What are you likely to buy next?

XF Sportbrake, maybe the new XE, but an F-Type should those 6 little balls come in......

  • Buying experience

    5 out of 5 5.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £4,700

When did you buy the car?

    October 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, the seller was from the same industry as myself which meant we spoke the same language, and I was able to haggle the price down a little without giving offence.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I needed a practical car but have always loved my Jags, so an X-Type estate ticked all the boxes with AWD a bonus.

    What was the dealer like?

    No dealer involved.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Brill, the 4 wheel drive keeps it sure-footed, even on the dire back roads of rural West Berks, and the 2.5 engine has plenty of power, especially if you use the S button, great for overtakes, and then disengage once past to continue gently on.

    What's it like to park?

Fine, good all-round view and assisited by front and rear sensors.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Only had it 2 months but so far all good. It came with a full Jaguar service history so it has been looked after and I can carry that on.

What's most practical about your car?

The boot, it was my main reason for buying it. I love the S-Type more and have had 3 of those, but they have a shallow boot. Now that I have a large garden in a rural setting, I need the flexibility that the estate brings.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Heated front screen, the last few frosty mornings have been a doddle, on the road in minutes!!
