Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

The face lift version certainly has plenty of presence and grabs attention. I've been complimented a number of times. Certainly worth considering a remap as this really allows the engine to achieve its potential, together with around 6-8 mpg increase. The car is comfortable and handles very well. It has more of a presence than the A4 or 3series competition. I've driven a 2014 A4 quattro and I thought my 2008 x type sports premium with a remap was a better car to drive. The AUDI handling was impressive and better but the jaguar is a better drive and the remapped jag engine is alot quicker. The x type boot is shallow, but more than adequate. Rear legroom is fine. Not enormous but again adequate. No usb port or rear charge point. But I can live with that. I get 54 mpg combined with the remap, 48 prior. Comfortable motorway cruiser and equally at home on b roads. The x type chews rear bushes and is heavy on break pads. The 12.5k service interval is not ideal either. Overall the post 2007 face lift is a very good car, it's just such a pity it took 7 years to iron out the problems and source the diesel engine, as the car could have potentially been very successful. Overall you can pick up a £32k luxury motor with all the trimmings for peanuts if you look around. I would recommend highly, but I have always had a soft spot for jags. Do your homework before buying and go for the face-lift model if possible. If you do, then you will be rewarded with a fantastic car.

How reliable do you find the car?

Mainly wear and tear items. x types tend to chew rear bushes so be aware. Had a couple of minor electric glitches which seem to have sorted themselves out without any intervention

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

Good car, 2.2 diesel is a cracking engine. Very comfortable on both motorway and b roads.
