What does this car say about you?

Someone who thought they was buying a Jag but actually bought a Mondeo dressed up as a Jag. In fact i'd swap this for a Mondeo tomorrow!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They wonder why it never moves much - so i tell them.......its the most horrid car to drive EVER!

Would you buy this car again and why?

Nooooooooo waaaay! In theory all the stats sound great 0-60 in 6.6 secs, tons of gadgets, but in reality it was an attempt by Ford to make a mini-Jag out some bits and bobs of a Mondeo and that's just what it feels like. Add to that extremely poor service from the dealer and you can see why I should have gone with a BMW or a Japanese car last time!

What are you likely to buy next?

Something nice to drive compared to this...........maybe a 1979 Lada Estate!

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £9,995

When did you buy the car?

    October 2009

Did you get a good deal and why?

Well I thought so but now I know I bought a Pup!

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

It had some of the features that my earlier 2004 3.0 SE did not have.

    What was the dealer like?

Classic sales driven dealership. I would never buy anything from LANCASTER JAGUAR SEVENOAKS again and would warn others to tread carefully too. Some of the safety checks they have overlooked are downright dangerous. I've never bought a car with one odd sized tyre fitted to it! That was AFTER their comprehensive Pre Delivery Inspection report was undertaken......funny how they cannot locate a copy of the PDI report now. Furthrmore Jaguar Landrove UK sent me some schpiel that when you buy an Approved Used Jaguar the buyer will recieve certificates of the PDI, Milage, Outstanding Finance, Previous Owners, checks, etc undertaken to ensure the provenance of your vehicle to assist you when you go to sell on your vehicle at a later date. You know what's coming don't you?........Yep......got no

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

Awful. Impossible to pull away in 1st smoothly. Think of a new Learner's 1st driving lesson. You're either screeming the mutts out of it to pull away or you stall. NO IN BETWEEN! It's as if the car has zero torque at low revs. It's not actually that quick. On the motorway today a Ford Ka Convertible outgunned me. Not sure what gear she was in but we both joined the motorway I was in 5th at about 55mph put my put flat to the floor and off she went. It guzzles gas but goes nowhere fast with it's All-Wheel-Drive!

    What's it like to park?

With the reverse parking sensors it's very easy to park.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Where shall i start? Car steams up dreadfully from about October until March to the extent that you literally cannot see the instrument panel, speedo etc.During the most recent winter despite having a quick clear screen I had to keep squidgeeing the INSIDE of the windscreen it got so damp! Rear light clusters filled up with water during the winter. High pitched whining (think old fashioned kettle) all during the winter (suspect something in the final drive / diff mech). Took it in and they couldn;'t find anything - suggesting brake pad squeal. Took it into another Jag dealer and they found that a Transmission Transfer Box Cooling Dut & Bolt were missing altogether...hmmm....THAT wasn't picked up on the PDI report either! Plastic internal windscreen vent started popping up everytime I we

What's most practical about your car?

Nothing much really. It does nothing particularly better than any other car does which costs a lot less (E.g. Ford Focus Ghia 1.6). In fact a 5 door Ford Focus has more rear leg room than an X-Type - i've checked it by adjusting the drivers seat to my requirements and then jumping in the passenger seat behind. The X-Type is far from spacious!

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The CD's that were left by the previous owner in the CD multichanger in the boot. Not exactly my musical taste but if i can sell them on eBay it might help offset the huge loss I have made in lining the dealers pockets in taking this pup off of them.
