Other Jaguar XJ (2010 - 2019) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

That I am proud to buy something that was designed, built and used in Britain. Other than that, I don't care. Its my money and I will buy what I like.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

That's is brand new, even though it is three years old. Colliers prepared the car that well ! Its has attracted more positive comments then any other car I have had, except maybe the 3000GT. Everyone wants to sit in it, look at it go for a spin it in.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, so far the car and the Jaguar experience has been great. I know there are always bad cars and bad experiences but for me its been great up till now.

What are you likely to buy next?

My kids will be at Uni so an F Type, just for me and the Wife.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £25,000

When did you buy the car?

    December 2016

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, had a P/X that was more than I expected, and some extras thrown in including them covering the cost of my private plate transfer.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    Always wanted a Jag !

    What was the dealer like?

Very good. Helpful, polite and not at all pushy. Was quite happy for me and my family to have a good look round the car and make sure it was ideal for us as a family. Three kids are not easy to fit in a proper car.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

For a car this big, amazing. I test drove it thinking it would drive like a barge but I was so wrong. Its only when you realise its all aluminium and something like 250 kg lighter than my old 2010 Volvo you understand why a car this big drives like my Wifes old 3 series BMW. My old Volvo was incredibly good at what it did, but it was no drivers car. An XJ is. What I find now I have had it a while is I driver it harder and faster - and it gets better. When you slide a car this big out of an island with its tail out and takes off at a speed that puts my Wifes Golf Gti to shame you realise just what an amazing car this is.

    What's it like to park?

OK.I have driven big cars for a few years so I find it OK. The wing mirrors give good visibility and the camera helps but it is damn long so you do need to bear in mind what space you use on a car park. Width I find OK as its 1" wider than my Volvo V70,but a foot longer. Parking sensors help as well. I park miles from anyone anyway to avoid dinks so its fine for me.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

    No

What's most practical about your car?

Space. I have three children aged 15, 13 and 13 and they all fit in the back in comfort. I will shoot myself before I have another people carrier. I have had several Volvo V70's as they are large and safe but there is more room in the rear of the XJ and the XJ is a far better car to drive and be behind the wheel of.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The dashboard. Being digital it can do things dials can't. When it all glows red as you go into dynamic mode it has to be the coolest thing I have ever seen on a car. The way the two outer dials change for your Sat Nav and to allow you to change your car settings is brilliant. Easy to see without hardly taking your eyes off the road. The digital dash is also very easy to read and complements the centre display perfectly.
