Did you get a good deal and why?

They had taken it as a part-exchange and had no luck selling it. The day I phoned for details they said the car had gone to auction but on checking it had not. I took this as a chance to put a silly offer in at £5K (they were asking £8k) which they turned down but said I could have it for £5,500!!! RESULT.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I have always wanted a big V8. I would have loved an old American muscle car but with the price of fuel I know that it would only get limited use. The Jag can regularly return over 30mpg on a out of town run making it very usable. Oh and of course the looks it has to be one of the best looking cars arround.

What was the dealer like?

Awful - when I went to collect the car which they assure me was fit for the 170-mile drive home it had a faulty wheel bearing and the ABS/traction control was inoperable.

What's it like to drive?

Fantastic mile-swallowing GT car, pretty good on sweeping bends but too big and heavy on tight B roads.

What's it like to park?

Very easy.

Have you had any problems with the car?

No absolutely nothing in one and a half years and about 7K miles.

What's most practical about your car?

Decent size boot.

Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Accelerator pedal.
