What does this car say about you?

It says that I am not someone who is afraid to spend money on the best cars. It says that I don't care about petrol costs. But it also says that I wanted the very best 4x4 that money can buy, as opposed to something like the Cayenne or Escalade. Although some people consider it to be a footballer's car I disagree with this, the footballers car is the Range Rover Sport.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

My friends love the car. My best friends have all had a turn driving it and have said that they'd love to own a car like it. They love being picked up in it or dropped off in it if going out into town for a night out. They say that the Range Rover has this ability to make people stare in awe and fear at its size and presence. My family already has a Range Rover in it, they like it because of how safe it is. In an accident its just going to flatten whatever hits it. My fiancee loves it, even though she is quite short (5'2" as opposed to my 6'1") she has not trouble driving the Range Rover. My neighbours think its great and also agree that its not as showy as something like a Range Rover Sport or Cayenne. They've also found it useful because its helped them get their cars down our lan

Would you buy this car again and why?

I would buy another Range Rover. I can't tell you exactly why but when I drive it I get this happy feeling, the sort of feeling you get when you eat good chocolate. It looks good on the drive and is probably the most useful car I've ever owned. It may not be quite as good offroad as say a Wrangler but I'm never going to drive in those sorts of conditions.

What are you likely to buy next?

Probably another Range Rover but I might go to Overfinch with the next one and have it tuned. I wouldn't mind getting an armoured Range Rover, I know they're heavy but they are the safest car you can get. I doubt I'd switch to any other 4x4 now that I've got the Range Rover. It's a nicer place to be than in the X5, it looks better than the Cayenne and its a better car than the Escalade/RAM or any other 4x4/SUV/SAV that you can think of.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £80,000

When did you buy the car?

    January 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

I think I got a good deal with the Rangey. They gave me £50,000 for my '06 plate X5 plus they added the Park Heating system free of charge. I also got offered 0% Finance on the remaining balance.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Changing my X5 for something with more distinction.

    What was the dealer like?

The dealer was friendly and did not hassle me whilst looking at the Range Rover. I was able to test the Rangey for an extended period of time and was able to take it off road with no complaints from the dealer.

    What's it like to drive?

Its fantastic both on and off road. Although I have found its a little bit more difficult to corner quickly than it was with the X5. That said, nothing I've driven comes close to matching its comfort off the road and only a Rolls Royce can match the comfort on the road. I've got back trouble and I've never had to stop and rest whilst I've been driving the Range Rover.

    What's it like to park?

Pretty easy actually. Even though its an immense car the parking sensors and the camera system makes parking it a doddle. I've yet to hit any cars on the local M&S car park, anyway.

Have you had any problems with the car?

The only thing that has gone wrong so far is that the gear box stopped selecting anything above third. The dealer was perfectly happy to give me an identical curtosy car whilst mine was being repaired. Since then there have been no problems with the car.

What's most practical about your car?

The off-road abilities and the load space. Thanks to its off-road and towing abilities we've had no trouble in the snow and ice. Also, after a tree came down across the drive the Rangy was able to get around it quite easily. The load space means its really easy for me and my friends to go away for a week or so without worrying about our lugage.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The heated and cooled front seats make driving the Rangey in any weather conditions really comfortable. Also, the heated steering wheel is a nice touch. Memory functions in the driver's seat, mirrors and steering wheel make it really easy for me and my partner to switch positions quickly.
