In their own words

Bought the car as the general family run around. It's the estate with 7 seats and has no turbo, auto transmission and A/C. Fitted with a tow hook, this is really the best car I have ever owned and fits in well with the wife's SLC, my CL and the Triumph 2.5PI. I use it every day; shopping, runs to the tip, office commuting, dog carrier, 1300 miles in a day, no problem. I did change the driver's seat squab for the optional 'taxi' / reinforced version as the old one had sagged a fair bit however, it's now the most comfortable thing ever. Go buy one - simple to service, cheap to run and very easy on tyres - I'm just replacing the set fitted in 2011 and 70k miles ago. There's not a lot of power so I guess they last a long while. Only downside is it's a bit noisy however, it's a 25 year old diesel - not a latest E350d.. Best thing is, it's still fully supported by MB for parts!

How reliable do you find the car?

Water pump and radiator at 20 years, prop shaft flexible couplings this year. Steering centre link and swivel arm bearings now.
