Other Mercedes-Benz E-Class (2002 - 2008) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

You dont need to wear a paper bag at the fuel station....unlike the A Class ;-)

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Everyone likes it. Still looks good after 3 years.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Absolutely! The E Class is built to last, and best recommendation is get main dealer servicing. It may cost a bit but in my experience its paid dividends.

What are you likely to buy next?

The E270 was a good engine, even if it does sound like a tractor on a cold morning. Probably the E280 or E320, but no issues getting another Classic

    £18,000

When did you buy the car?

    January 2005

Did you get a good deal and why?

Always bought cars from same supplier, always fantastic service.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    What was the dealer like?

    Mindreader!

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Like a tank with power steering and an armchair. Bags of power when needed but the 270 does like to smoke when pushed hard. But its unburnt diesel so nothing too serious.

    What's it like to park?

I've not got parking sensors which has not been a problem. The turning circle is superb and I can get it into a space barely bigger than the car without hitting anything.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Thought it was worth writing a few words on the car as just clocked up 100,000 miles with it in 3 years. 2 breakdowns, alternator needed new brushes (and the dealer did this and NOT just replaced the alternator - top marks; and gearbox forgot it had 5 gears and the dealer reprogrammed it, a lot cheaper than the new gearbox I was expecting. Again top marks for the dealer (Mercedes Chichester)

What's most practical about your car?

It does exactly what it says on the tin. Fantastic cruiser for long motorway trips - and in warm weather on a cruise it will still do 50mpg.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Despite being a bog standard Classic, it really does have everything you need. But have to admit that the CD changer - where lower part of the console gently slides up - really impresses the kids!
