This man drives a reliable car.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Very usefull when needed for getting a lot of people to and fro and it is a winner as it has the extra seat making it an 8-seater.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I would by this car again becasue of its reliability. That cannot be overlooked and it is extreemly practical.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Another Nissan, without a doubt.

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £5,999

When did you buy the car?

    September 2000

Did you get a good deal and why?

Got a good price for trade in for my previous vehicle and the Serena was immaculate on delivery.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I live in the country in a village served by single track roads. The Serena in comparatively narrow therefore easier to negotiate getting in and out of the village. I need a big vehicle to cope with camping on the continent with the bikes, surfboards etc and a family + tent.

    What was the dealer like?

Not in your face, take your time and knowledagble. New exactly what we were looking for and did a good deal.

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

This is the tortoise of MPVs but a definite winner in terms of Steady Eddie. I've driven mine all over France, completely laden with camping equipment and everything else bar the kitchen sink and it has performed very well indeed.

    What's it like to park?

Has a suprisingly good turing circle and is easy to park bewteen cars.

Have you had any problems with the car?

The only potentially catastrophic incident was the drive shaft failing at the UJ by the gear box. Bearing in mind this is a rear wheel drive vehicle, had I been driving at 70mph rather than 10 I would probably have been killed along with my two children. I strongly recommend if you start to get a resonance in the vehicle, a sort of low level but certainly noticeable humming noise when putting torque of the engine then I strongly recommend that you get he drive shaft checked as it may be about to go. Don't get it replaced by Nissan; it'll cost you upwards of £500. I ordered a replacement drive shaft online paying £90 for it and managed to replace it myself and I am not practically minded.

What's most practical about your car?

Very, very reliable. I have had it for 7 years and it has started first time, every time. Masses of space and can take a very heavy load no problem at all. Tows exceptionally well as if nothing was behind you especially when towing my boat.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

That's the great thing about a Serena, no gadgets to break!
