  • Summary

What does this car say about you?

Nostalgic petrolhead who likes to be different......

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Usual comments are "god i ain't seen one of them in a long while" or "rare as hen's teeth they are" and occasionally the remark of, "I used to have one of them", always makes for good conversation...

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, or something very similar, as i just love old cars.

What are you likely to buy next?

Don't know exactly, but will probably be very old again, as once you have the classic car bug there's no getting away from it and why should you....???

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £500

When did you buy the car?

    December 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, it was a good deal as I wanted something to play with and has character. Very few left on the road today in good working order...

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Nostalgic and very rare, did a straight swap with my old Fiesta, wanted it as a rolling restoration project. It's a typical 80s throwback and a bit different to what's on the road today. 25 yrs old, 200,000 mls and still going strong, Japanese reliability at its best....

    What was the dealer like?

Didn't buy it from a dealer as such, i bought it off a guy who runs his own repair garage, he had my Fiesta and I took his Sunny with a full year's MOT and 4 months' tax...

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Fun, quirky and just so different to modern stuff, it's quite nippy for a standard 1.6 8v carb'd engine. It's low down seating make it feel quite sporty too, with good handling too..

    What's it like to park?

Easy as it has good all round vision and a massive back window which makes parking a breeze, it also has a great turning circle, which makes getting into and out of tight parking spots a doddle...

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Mechanically 100% reliable - 200k and still going strong. Bodywork is showing signs of its age, but nothing drastic. Worse thing it needs is a new driver's side front wing, apart from that it's all good really...

What's most practical about your car?

Fair size boot and the seats drop down to make the back even bigger, big rear panoramic window and cheap to run with very good 40+ mpg return. Spares are in ample supply and cheap to buy, nothing complicated on it like today's motors...

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Most advanced thing on it is the power steering, which was not standard on this model, it was added on by the chap I bought it off. Also it has a low fuel warning light, which was not standard on a lot of cars of that era....
