In their own words

We've had this since new in 2009, for reference it is now May 2018 - just over 133K on the clock currently. We bought it as a second car, just a run around, but it has proved so reliable and cheap to run it has outlasted all of our "main" cars and in fact has now become our only car. The money we've saved from owning it has sent us around the world to visit some unbelievable places - we've lost the mindset long ago with things such as flash cars and are not interested in 0 to 60 times or heated seats. The facts are this car has averaged 55mpg throughout the 9 years, we've had a clutch, 3 x suspension ball joints and a driving side window motor outside of what we call service/wear & tear items - yes we've had it serviced annually, yes we've gone through plenty of tyres/exhausts/brake pads/discs - but at for example front brake/pads/discs coming in at around £30 then it's all less than a basket of shopping to keep this thing going. It achieves 70mph with ease on the motorway, is surprisingly comfortable on long journeys - nips in and around the town centre and is fine on the 60mph stretches. You need to keep in mind that it is only a 1 litre engine, its never going to be a rocket ship nor is it supposed to be - but it is dirt cheap reliable motoring and a true enabler to let you spend money on other things.
