Other Peugeot 208 (2012 - 2019) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Someone who's not afraid to do something different, and also likes a classy car which is both quick and reasonably priced.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

'fancy', 'nice', 'smart', '200hp is a lot in a car that size!'.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Absolutely, it's great! Might need something bigger by the time I'm next in the market for a car though, so I hope they put the 308 R Hybrid into production...

What are you likely to buy next?

Another hot hatch, probably a Peugeot, ideally the 308 R Hybrid if they put it into production.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £13,500

When did you buy the car?

    June 2015

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes, £13,500 for the car but 9.7% APR finance means the total cost is £16,500, though if I pay it back early I'll get a reduction in the interest charge.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted something stylish and quick, got a great deal.

    What was the dealer like?

Fine. It was a distance sale (from Perry's Nelson, I live in Leeds) and he was too keen on the phone at the expense of showing me the deal in writing by email. Made me nervous at the time but it all worked out in the end.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Brilliant. And really easy. The engine pulls you away with effortless, lazy ease and a deep throaty burble with occasional turbo whine. In the corners, you just point and it turns. It feels amazingly planted in high speed turns.

    What's it like to park?

Dead easy. It has completely unnecessary parking sensors and a tiny turning circle.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Not yet, I've only just picked it up!

What's most practical about your car?

You can arrive at your destination early! Also, the boot's surprisingly big (especially when compared to a Mini), the economy is class-leading, and it's really easy to control the stereo and trip computer without taking your eyes off the road.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

That engine! Also, the stereo (with DAB and bluetooth) is a massive improvement on what I'm use to.
