What does this car say about you?

To Peugeot fans - a family man. To everyone else - an absolute mug.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

People I give lifts to seem to like the car inside. It's comfy and looks premium. However my family are sick of the car, as I keep moaning about the various niggles and problems to them!

Would you buy this car again and why?

Absolutely not. This replaced a Honda CR-V Mk 2, and it's no where near a patch on that car. It's not reliable, it's cheaply put together, and when things go wrong it's expensive! £1,200 to replace the clutch and flywheel, and have been quoted upwards of £800 for the turbo. This is a 5 1/2 year old car that's done 62,000 miles!!!!

What are you likely to buy next?

In the process of buying a Toyota Corolla 1998 1.3 from a friend. Drives much much better than this Peugeot, and will probably outlive it!

    April 2014

Did you get a good deal and why?

    -

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Needed a Diesel and a large car, this seemed perfect.

    What was the dealer like?

Was fairly helpful, completely different from the last Peugeot dealership I had to deal with.

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

Not bad, it does pull like a train uphill even with 4 adults in the car. Well, it did until the Turbo started to leak!

    What's it like to park?

Easy enough, although personally the rear parking sensors are distracting. Plus I have always found bigger cars easier to park than smaller ones.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Within the first week the AUX port was broken. Returned it to the garage, they initially refused to fix it under warranty. I threatened to give the car back, it was eventually fixed. September 2014 the leather on the steering wheel started to peel away. Now as I write this 1/3 of the wheel is peeling, and the layer underneath the initial peeling is starting to peel. Destroys the feel of the car. August 2015 rear parking sensors went absolutely nuts. This happens after heavy rain. After 60,000 miles - one week before Christmas 2015, the clutch started to slip. The clutch and flywheel both needed replacing! After the clutch was fixed the turbo was pointed out to me that it's sooting up. This is caused by a seal failing in the turbo.

What's most practical about your car?

Rear leg room is good. I'm 6ft 3 and someone my height can sit behind me without a problem.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

The little sunglass holder above the drivers head is stupidly handy!
