What does this car say about you?

That I like a fast car without the fast price.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Quickly became known as the pimps car, generally well received although be prepared for questions regarding the origins of 'BRM'.

Would you buy this car again and why?

From a drivers point of view, yes all the way. Mechanically is a different matter, I'd have to have a long, hard think about the running and repair costs it.

What are you likely to buy next?

Just bought a 2002 Vectra, talk about chalk and cheese! It's like driving a school bus.

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    £3,000

    October 2004

Did you get a good deal and why?

Got it for trade price i.e the price an independent would pay for a trade in from a dealer.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    Looked nice, nippy, decent price.

    What was the dealer like?

Fine, just wanted it off the forecourt for the space!

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Great to drive, handles well, pulls well, close ratio gearbox complements the revvy engine.

    What's it like to park?

Doddle to park although the turning circle isn't the best for a small car.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Dreaded HGF, had to go to main dealer for repair due to the specialist tools required with the VVC engine. Not cheap either, £600 for something that takes them around 2 - 3 hours! Radiator replaced at 70,000, timing belts replacement can be expensive. Eats front tyres, expect around 8000 miles per set dependant on how you drive it.

What's most practical about your car?

Despite it's sporty appearance it's equally at home pottering around town.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Probably the limited slip diff, you forget how much it helps until you try driving an ordinary car.
