Other Suzuki Jimny (1998 - 2018) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

Reliable, dependable, etc....it is a workhorse which can handle a lot of adverse driving conditions your average car cannot.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

My family don't like it but when the weather was bad it was them that wanted the keys to drive as they knew it would get them where they wanted with ease.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I think I would buy from this manufacturer again as their build quality and parts seem a bit more robust than most.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Probably the Suzuki Vitara.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchise

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £3,300

When did you buy the car?

    November 2005

Did you get a good deal and why?

I think I got a good deal as the Jimny was MOTd for a year and taxed for 6 months.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I always wanted a 4x4 but the price range was out of my reach. The Jimny was affordable and offered the 4x4 option with a modest engine size.

    What was the dealer like?

Arnold Clark were a good dealership to buy from as the back light was not working and they replaced it when I took it back. There MOT deal of getting it half price the following year was good as well.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

It is very clunky to drive, not very comfortable but for the practicality of it that does not bother me as I don't do much long distance driving but useful in bad weather.

    What's it like to park?

Very easy to park and it has a wide turning angle so you don't need to do many four point turns in the road.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Not much has gone wrong in the four years or so I have had it. Brakes, new exhaust, trackrod ends, bushes, nothing major thank God.

What's most practical about your car?

In the extreme weather we had this year it has proven its worth as it drove through big floods and snowy roads with ease. My daughter took it to her work as it was impossible to drive in her hatchback for a few days of that weather as we live in Scotland and it was bad up here.
