Other Volkswagen Passat (2005 - 2011) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Boring middle aged giffer who doesn't know what he really wants.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Same as me, especially the giffer description.

Would you buy this car again and why?

    Yes

What are you likely to buy next?

I've bought one. C3 exclusive diesel 110 BHP specked up to the eyeballs. Corking deal, no road tax, neck jerking performance, full leather, sat nav etc. The passat was a belting car which did its job fantastically but when its time to go, its time to go I'm afraid.

  • Buying experience

    5 out of 5 5.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £10,000

When did you buy the car?

    April 2010

Did you get a good deal and why?

Good part-ex. Reasonable price for the car I bought - low mileage, FSH, options etc, and VW used warranty.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    Seemed like a good price.

    What was the dealer like?

    As usual.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Solid and comfortable. NIce car overall.

    What's it like to park?

Easy if you've got eyes in your head and know which way it is pointing.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

No. Only thing that went wrong in 60K miles was electric handbrake switch - fixed under warranty.

What's most practical about your car?

Big tank. Good mpg - 50 overall and that is genuine by experience. Quiet unless pushed at speed and very comfortable on long journeys. Big boot and lots of room for a family and their 'stuff'.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Parking sensors are a pain the the derrier - going off when there's no obstruction. Crying wolf. Heated windscreen great except hardly used really. Sat Nav prevents boredom but german 5 digit version limits usefulness in UK or EU.
