Other Volkswagen Polo (2009 - 2017) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

    It's a smart car.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Everyone loves it and loves being driven around in it.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Absolutely, although the new Polo BlueGT looks interesting too...

What are you likely to buy next?

Who knows? Most likely a VW again though. Could be another Polo, perhaps the new Golf, wait and see...

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £14,500

When did you buy the car?

    May 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

    Negotiated 8% discount.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Had the previous Polo BlueMotion which was great. This new generation is amazingly that much better to drive, that much more comfortable, really feels like a much more mature car - almost like driving a smaller Golf.

    What was the dealer like?

Great. Easy to deal with (Wolsey, Ipswich). Same people I bought my previous Polo BlueMotion from. Could have dealt with local dealer in Reading but they don't seem interested in customers.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Once you get to know the character of the car it's real smooth to drive. There's nothing sluggish about this car if you know how to drive - have overtaken many executive cars, etc simply by driving smoothly and anticipating. As the suspension is a bit lower than the regular Polos it also handles surprisingly well in corners, around roundabouts, etc. Good fun to drive!

    What's it like to park?

Easy, but then again so is parking a BMW 7 series... If you're really struggling to drive/park, there's always the optional parking sensors... Or public transport...

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Relatively minor things, including fuel flap solenoid which had to be replaced.

What's most practical about your car?

The mileage is fantastic, really useful on longer European trips. Luggage space is great too, more so with rear seats folded down. Moved a lot of stuff in this car :).

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Cruise control, AUX port on stero (great for iPhone combined with my Dension Car Dock for IPhone). Hill start (never knew how handy that was until I used it). Did I mention cruise control? :) And of course the mileage is a real boon.
