  • Summary

What does this car say about you?

Hard to say, most people don't expect to see a 24 year old driving one, but I get the odd nod or thumbs up, from people who know just exactly what it is......

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

My girlfriend hates it and says it's old fashioned, but my mates and Dad who know about cars love it and respect it for what it is - a true sleeper.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I certainly would yes, perhaps a saloon next time.

What are you likely to buy next?

It's a second car used for work, my every day car is a Volvo C30 and I want another one of those next year as I love it.

    £1,300

When did you buy the car?

    October 2011

I think so yes, prices vary a lot dependant on condition, but this one was in fair condition and priced to match.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted a sleeper car and there probably isn't a better one available, also easy to self service/maintain.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Firm ride on larger (18 inch+ wheels), fairly competent handling for such a large car but don't expect miracles..... Straight line performance is amazing, mine had a cat back exhaust, modern exhaust manifold and MTE remap and 50 to 100mph in third gear (on a track of course) was unbelievable. Struggles to put power down in wet all the way into third and fourth, though.

    What's it like to park?

Massive car with poor turning circle, but good visibility, clutch is also fairly heavy, let's face it, it isn't a Micra......

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

It needed a new thermostat and the front anti roll bar drop links needed replacing, these are a common fault, but easy and cheap to fix. It eats front tyres.

What's most practical about your car?

It's VAST, had a tumble dryer and a washing machine in the back, along with bags and bags of clothing when we moved house.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

It has so many for an older car! Heated seats are great for those cold mornings.
