Volvo S40 (2004 - 2012) 2.0D SE (06/07-05/10) 4d Owner Review

Was a terrible car, with few redeeming qualities. The car did look nice until the front wheel arches started to rust. That was the least of the problems. The car would go into limp modes. Replaced injectors and car still would go into limp mode. It got to the stage where I knew the AA employees, as virtually all of them had to recover the vehicle. Eventually it was diagnosed with ECU damage and it had to be sent off to be repaired. Then the DMF began to fail, replaced it with SMF and it drove better. The alternator failed twice. The windscreen wiper mechanism failed twice. The diesel leak off pipes constantly leaked and had to be replaced. Used official Volvo pipes but made no difference they just liked to leak all over the engine. Also replaced the accelerator pedal. When it came time to get rid I didn't even attempt to inflict the car on some poor unsuspecting buyer and instead had it scrapped. It is hopefully a cube of metal now.
