What does this car say about you?

Although it is not why I bought the car I suspect to others the car has more than a whiff of badge snobbery.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Nice looking car but over priced.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No, the real world performance is woeful relative to brochure figures. At 70mph on a motorway with a warm engine 60mpg is as good as I seem to get and my overall average is below 50mpg despite not being a quick driver. If I did buy another A1 it would definitely be the 1.4TFSI which I have found is not that far behind my car for economy in the real world and if a lot nicer to drive. Very disappointing servicing from dealer.

Yes, decent part exchange and price competitive with magazine target prices.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wonderful cabin feel, claimed economy and low ownership costs (service pack, road tax, fuel, high resale values), stylish looks.

What was the dealer like?

Good

What's it like to drive?

Handling is safe and secure. The engine should be strong and flexible but unfortunately long gearing in the five speed gear box sucks the life out of the engine and whilst it can be quite rapid if pushed hard doing so kills economy.

What's it like to park?

Very easy to park.

Have you had any problems with the car?

Several DPF faults including one software update under recall. A few rattles and squeeks have appeared recently.

What's most practical about your car?

Small and easy to park and great around town.

SD card slot for stereo and bluetooth connectivity.
