In their own words

Very comfortable on long journeys, minimal noise at high speed with roof on, you forget the car is a soft top on the motorway! Even with the 19'' wheel options on the car it still handles potholes and road imperfections well, just as well as my previous A4, not as well as my previous A6 but it's a different style of car. Driving is pleasant with the roof off up to around 60MPH, anything under is lovely, easy to chat and listen to the radio under this speed, with the rear wind deflector attached there's virtually no wind if your head's below the windscreen. Doing over 75MPH is a little uncomfortable even with the roof on, the car doesn't handle very well at this speed, which I think is due to the lack of a hard roof which provides extra stability. Tends to wobble a little and vibrate. Still driveable but if you do this kind of speed regularly on journeys then you should be looking at a hard top really. I've had an A4 & A6 prior to this and it feels just as refined as those at normal driving speeds/roads. It does feel sporty but also incredibly refined, you sit very low down but this does not detract from the comfort of the interior. I have the cream s-line interior which is a MUST have, the S-Line seats are well worth finding on a used model. The SE seats leave a lot to be desired, the S-Line's hold you in place and are much bigger, the Air scarf/neck heater is also fantastic, with the heated seats, air scarf and wind deflector on you can virtually have the roof down in any temp and be comfortable. Some bad points: Fuel economy is not great, mine is the 2.0TDI (170 BHP Manual 2WD) and on urban driving, I only achieve between 34-36MPG, long journeys sitting at 60-70MPH I can usually get near 47-50MPG. For a 2 Litre Diesel, this is pretty poor by my standards, both my previous Audi's had the same engine and returned much higher than this. If it was a quick car I wouldn't mind so much but it is a little sluggish, the roof mechanism does account for a big weight increase though. If you're going for the pre-2012 model then get a 3.0TDI if you can afford it, it's much quicker and the difference in economy is negligible. I'd only get the 2.0TDI post-2012 facelift when the new 177BHP engine was in place as it is a much better unit, quicker, more refined and HUGE improvements in the economy. But, overall I love it, it's as refined as any other Audi but with the roof down it's a great experience, more fun than any other car I've head and turns heads everywhere I go. I could never go back to driving a hard top after owning this car and the A5, in my opinion, is one of the best looking car's Audi has ever made. I think it's the nicest looking coupe ever made (apart from the BMW 3 Series Coupe E92). Basically, get one in any spec, variation etc and you will not be disappointed.
