In their own words

An everyday super car (in my mind) should have 4WD which is why I narrowed my choices down to the Audi R8 and Porsche 911 Turbo S. The Porsche is seen as the daddy of the everyday super car, but for me,(as great a car it is) it`s not special enough. I also found Porsche dealers unwilling to “make a deal” for a new car, but I could and did, negotiate with Audi dealers. My spec`d up R8, compared to a similar spec`d 911, was nearly £20k cheaper…….that`s a big difference for equally capable cars. First the boring stuff. Don`t be put off by the luggage (or lack of luggage) space, none of these types of cars are cavernous. Fuel costs are not as horrific as you might expect. Average driving has returned up to 22mpg. I have managed better mpg…but who cares! Insurance was a lot cheaper than i expected too. Now the good stuff. The interior is sublime with a leather and carbon mix throughout. Virtual dash is great, although it does take a wee while to get use to the menus and hierarchy. I would recommend going for the super sport seats. The standard bucket seats can be a bit uncomfortable over distance. Also go for the Bang & Olufsen system if you can afford it.Awesome! The ride in comfort mode feels very composed. Pot holes and alike are easily soaked up without any harshness. In Sport mode, the suspension can be a little bumpy on very poor roads, but still very live-able. The engine is one of this cars party piece`s. It just sounds fantastic, and by developing over 600 bhp, is stupidly fast too. Launch control is another party piece, Easy to engage and very addictive. I drive this car every day, whether it`s to the supermarket, work or a night out, it`s dealt with everything i`ve asked of it even really big speed bumps and multi-story car parks. If you want a super car that can deal with every day driving, you have to put the R8 in your very short shortlist. It`s a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging experience every time you press the red button. Cars don`t get much better than this. Another Audi Masterpiece!
