Value
Bearing in mind the quality of car (and the dealer service) I'd say the value is first rate.
Costs
You can get cheaper cars - but then they are all a bit naff by comparison.

On the road
Driving
Capable of both relaxed cruising and back road fun. The diesel engine delivers so much torque it even makes my dads 330i feel weedy at low revs (below about 4k)!
Performance
The handling, grip and ESP are all amazing, I'm really impressed by them. Although brisk I'll probably end up getting it chipped ~ 195bhp!

Slight air-con thing going on. But haven't had time to return to dealer yet.

Sports suspension is quite firm, small ruts on a motorway will upset you. However that's the price you pay for tight controlled handling when the going gets.... going!
