  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Although expensive to buy compared to lesser brands new and second-hand, BMW hold their value making them long term good value.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Servicing on BMW 4+ scheme surprisingly affordable. I found some servicing cheaper than so-called 'independant specialsists'. Decent branded tyres on the BMW 16" can be costly at £100+ (each).

  • On the road

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

Sublime gearbox and chassis. The best handling car I have ever had. Total confidence in all situations. What more can I say?

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Can sometimes feel flat-footed in 5th on Motorways. Deceptively quick otherwise.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Nothing has gone wrong except for the odd light bulb and normal wear and tear items.

Problem is: I love it, but I find the car can provoke ridiculous road rage from other road users and a lack of co-operation when trying to pull out of junctions etc...

    Comfort

    5 out of 5 5.0

Ache-free after 400 miles at the wheel.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

Thatcham-approved standard ignition immobiliser, but no alarm or remote locking as standard equipement which on what would have been a £20k car when new is a joke. Had to get an aftermarket alarm fitted.

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

Generally very good from Sytners in Nottingham. Got free boiled sweets after 50k-mile service (nice!) Got overcharged for some screenwash that I didn't need or ask for.

  • Problems and Ownership
