You can pick an IS for under 4k if you look around although models with M3 kits tend to hold value better
Costs
I had mine serviced at a BMW dealer and they took the mick. A speciallist local mechanic will do it for less than half the cost!

On the road
Driving
Solid and balanced through corners and the stering gives good feed back although the back end has a tendancy to kick out in the wet and the steering wheel is sometimes a little too large to be able to correct it affectively but a great drive none the less
Performance
140bhp out of a 1.9 is good in anyones books, its better than most 2.0's out there. First gear a little sluggish, really comes into its own in second. Good top speed also

Gets a bit grumpy if not started regularly, but never let me down at all

Every body loves the aggresive styling and it always envokes a reaction when you tell someone you drive a BMW Coupe, top marks for image
Comfort
Leather trim and sport seats will provide ample comfort, a little cramped with 3 in the back, but the ergonomics are very good.

Mine came with a Thatcham Cat 1 alarm which did go a bit hay wire and not work properly, but no real problems
Service
Expensive and they took every oppourtunity to rip me off. Use a local specialist they'll do a better job for less than half the money!
