I swapped a younger t reg touring for it ..but it was worth it!
Costs
I know its always going to cost me more than a Toyota but I don't really care.

On the road
Driving
Really wants to move, lovely laid back position, keep thinking I'm in 3rd gear when I'm 5th gear! Had a 318i touring t reg previously that would struggle to pull me out of bed!
Performance
I haven't driven a 328 but the 323 is as fast as anyone needs and it makes all the right noises ..mine is de badged ,which is very annoying for boy racers in Honda civics with big exhausts and 1500cc engines!

Living with it
Reliability
My k reg 320 broke down on the m1 once..and the 318 old old shape broke down a couple of time ..the t reg touring never broke down...and the 323 hasnt YET !

For me it says, ok its the previous shape ..which I prefer ..it says I drive it cos it goes like stinker not because I want to show how rich I am.
Comfort
Its ok in the front especially with the leather and fine in the back if your not overweight or over 5ft 10 ins tall.

Usually a bmw alarm is very good. However I seem to always need to have the alarm re-coded every 2 years ...costing off course £200! On every model of bmw I've had and its been 19yrs now ,the alarms have always needed to be re coded.
