  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

BMW uprated the standard equipment just before I got the car, so well equipped, but still had to pay for a CD.

    Costs

    2 out of 5 2.0

I get nearly 600 miles/tank and about 50mpg. Car tells you when a service is required and they haven't had to do anything except standard ones so don't think it's that expensive (i'ts a company car).

  • On the road

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

Corners extremely well, depsite being an estate. Lovely to drive - wish it was an auto. BMW uprated this model's BHP so that you can now get it as an auto.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Diesel means slight lag when pulling away, but once going there are very few things that seem to be able to out accelerate it when overtaking - the turbo is a dream!

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Nothing mechanical. Minor electrical and the key has had to be changed twice.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

Depends what sort of image you want - BMW drivers seem to have attained a particular image that one would not want to be associated with!

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Chose the sports seats instead of the standard ones - I never have had backache, despite doing more than 2000 miles/month.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    5 out of 5 5.0

I made the error of locking my keys in - it took BMW 5 hours to break in!

    Service

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very attentive after intial problems with personal settings on the car - wish they would do something about the parking when servicing.
