Brilliant value used now. Get one with leather and Sat Nav for peanuts that will last forever.
Costs
I've never found costs to be too bad. 30MPG, long service intervals if driven mainly out of town.

Superbly involving for a big car. Feels a bit busy and heavy in town.

Auto dulls it a bit, but still very effortless and smooth. Steptronic overtoo slow

Only minor problems in 81K, and none in the last few years.

Still oozes class above its (2nd-hand) price. More stately than 3 series, more sporty than Merc.

Find standard seat squabs a bit flat - sport seats are better. Still very comfortable though,
