  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Cheaper than an equivalent Merc, but still fairly pricey compared to regular marques.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

Servicing costs are pretty high (£190 oil service) but service intervals are long (about 15000m). Shop around for tyres - Front pair (Pirelli P6000) can be picked up for £180 compared to over £280 quoted by some!

  • On the road

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

Sports suspension makes it feel like it's on rails.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Pulls strongly but needs to kick down a couple of gears at motorway speeds. Sport mode on auto box gives the car extra zip but is not normally needed -)

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

Read PDC playing up - still not got to the bottom of it

The M body kit stands out from most other 5s

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Sports suspension generates road roar but engine is silent when crusing and wind noise is well suppressed.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    5 out of 5 5.0

(Fingers crossed) no issues - deadlocks standard.

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

BMW servicing too expensive and not as expert as they like to make out. I have used Autokraft in Birmingham and they seem at least as good.
