Another great deal on a 3 year plus car, couldn't except the loss buying new.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

You cant run a V8 on the cheap, get that, servicing costs stupid with main dealers I was quoted £200 for an oil change.

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

5 series offers the best diving position of all BMWs for me.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Likes its petrol but it is a V8, no real difference to the mpg if you drive hard. Its not as quick as it bigger brothers the 540 or the M5 but its got a load of kick and enough horses.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

I guess there are a few exceptions but I've never had a BMW that has left me stranded.

    Image

The sport model looks by far the best of the E39 range and still looks good against the new 5 too.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Leather seats are very comfortable but aren't all BM seats.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    5 out of 5 5.0

I'm going to say excellent because I've never lost one yet, touch wood.

    Service

    3 out of 5 3.0

the level of service from dealers does not reflect the quality of the product, shame.
