Other BMW 5-Series (2003 - 2010) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

It's a 5 Series. I play golf and work for a bank. It says I'm the type of city boy I hated as a rebellious teenager!

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

My nan likes the arm rest in the back where she can put her coffee. The missus loves the heated seats and auto box. Mates think it's a good looking car and love the understated performance.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yes, its a practical family saloon which can handle a Lakeside shopping trip with the missus then beat seven bells out of silly scoobies and pointless coxters all the way home. Almost enjoy gong shopping!

What are you likely to buy next?

Either another 535d or maybe a Merc E350. Again - understated but will kick you inna fork if you don't pay attention.

  • Buying experience

    3 out of 5 3.0

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Franchised

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £16,000

When did you buy the car?

    January 2011

Did you get a good deal and why?

Big Motoring World in Kent. Don't expect any haggling on the screen price.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I've had 3 series before - enjoyed the drive (handling, performance) but needed more room in the back. Also wanted decent performance but without the boy racer ironing-board-on-the-boot look.

    What was the dealer like?

Blunt and offhand salesmen, short test drive. All seemed like a bit of an effort.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa wheeeeeeeeee! Eats motorways for a mid morning snack, bludgeons country roads into submission.

    What's it like to park?

Front and rear radar-like PDC - job done.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

2 blown tyres, particle filter needs replacing as the car has been used as a bit of a town runabout (not good for a big diesel).

What's most practical about your car?

Huge boot, comfortably fit 3 adults in the back.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Ipod connector, auto opening boot, go-faster (Sport) button, paddle shift.
