In their own words

I have had a 2004 5 series BMW before and it was beyond reproach, however this newer model has caused me nothing but grief since I bought it 2 months ago. I have done 250 miles in 2 months and in that time the rear suspension collapsed and a leak in the rear meant the carpets were all mouldy and soaking wet and the window was always misted up. I have been told this is because the suspension pump failed and because of a perished grommet. This shouldn't happen on a 6 year old car that has only done 31000 miles. The automatic tailgate has a feature where the parcel shelf slides back and forth, this doesn't work either! One of the most disappointing things is this is an executive level car with M sport equipment spec yet it has less features than many of the 'lesser' model cars. For example, it connects to your phone to use as a phone but not to connect for music streaming. There are less features for in-car adjustment than I had on my 2004 one!! Visibility out the back is also poor. on the plus side it is (well, was) smooth to drive and powerful yet fairly economical. I bought it from a main BMW dealer and although I've now got a hire car while they're fixing it I have lost all confidence with the quality of BMW.
