Other BMW Z4 (2003 - 2008) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I can look beyond the Bangle styling because I know that the engineering underneath it all is second only to the likes of Porsche

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Everyone likes it a lot, be careful though, the styling of this car is very colour dependent. Mine is silver and looks good, black is also a good fit for this car, stick away from Red, will be hard to sell it on.

Would you buy this car again and why?

Yup definately, am seriously considering changing it out for the Z4M coupe when the prices come down a bit further

What are you likely to buy next?

Possibly Z4M, Possibly Cayman S or Boxter S (the only cars in its class that I think do a better job than the Z4M)

    £14,800

When did you buy the car?

    April 2008

Did you get a good deal and why?

I thought so, went private and got one with a lot of options on it so was happy for the price

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    What was the dealer like?

    N/A

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Grips like no other rear wheel drive car I've ever driven. Very good in the wet or the dry, particularly with all the driving aids that it has (DTC and DSC are standard) Make no mistake about it though, this car tramlines badly and is very crashy over bumps. This is simply a result of the runflats that come as standard though, ditch those and the difference is like night and day.

    What's it like to park?

Fine, particulary reverse parking as you sit so far back in the car that you will end up parking well away from the wall/ curb. Going in forwards is quite tricky until you get used to the length. You are also very concious that the front lip sits lower than the hight of a typical kerb and once you have hit it once you will over compensate from there on in each time you park, and can end up a considerable distance from the kerb on occasion. Turning circle is the best I have seen on a car like this so getting into the space is easy.

Have you had any problems with the car?

I scratched the front lip (its low to the ground and you can easily foul a curb at the front of the car when youo first get it as the bonnet is sooooo much longer than most other cars). had this repaired recently but can't really blame BMW for that ;)

What's most practical about your car?

The MPG - Averaging about 29mpg at the mo and I do a lot of short journeys too and from work The boot - it's really quite large for a 2 seat sportscar

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

I would have said the sports button (as most people do) but actually for me, the auto-tinting rear view mirror and heated seats are more of a bonus
