Other Chrysler PT Cruiser (2000 - 2008) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I like my cars to be different

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Like it - but too boring to buy one!

Would you buy this car again and why?

Probably not - I do not think the latest models have addressed the real problems - plus it needs more boot space for a family car. I still do not regret buying it though.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Alfa 159 sportwagon

    Franchise

    No

    £11,773

When did you buy the car?

    September 2003

Did you get a good deal and why?

Average - so-so trade in for my Fiat

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Something out of the ordinary. Great chrome wheels! Lots of extras for the cash.

    What was the dealer like?

Quite good - real petrolhead! Very good with my son during after-sales service

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Comfortable and quick enough for a young family, but it is noisy on the road - needs more soundproofing. Turning circle truly dreadful - don't think I will ever quite get used to it. Old fashioned clunky engine from Neon that really needs pushing to get it to move - more power would transform it - maybe the 2.4 is better, but I haven't driven one. That said it's a grand m-way cruiser - hence the name I guess.

    What's it like to park?

Average - front drops away so you have to be careful and back is shorter than you think so have a tendency to stop well before you hit the wall.

  • Living with it

    4 out of 5 4.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Doors started unlocking themselves in 2007. No one will touch Chrysler electrics except franchised dealers so cost me GBP400 for new relay - ouch.

What's most practical about your car?

Leather seats (kids 5 and 3 - 'nuff said). Reasonable leg room. Driving position. Paint quality is good - it scrubs up well!

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Like other reviewers - I still think it still looks astonishing when sparkling clean - that chrome... plus the electric folding mirrors
