In their own words

Here's a great car bodyshell and styling ruined by an underpowered engine, five-speed box (which makes even less sense as it's underpowered and needs them). Common to this mk3 generation C5 it is plagued by emmissions woes. Ariund 120k it seems and often before the following fail: egr valve, egr valve power, depolution fluid runs out, dpf regen solenoid pavks up. All these lead to the engine typically goung to fault then smoking like a trooper and going to limp. Trouble is you need a special computer (Lexia) to talk to the car. It can be tough and expensive to cure this. Fluud needs removing substantial parts of the car yo refil and the computer to tell the ecu you've done it. This basically ruins the car, the mk2 didn't do this and would roll around on fault no problem for miles. Also regularly faulty is the aircon with holes appearing in joints in pipes under the bumper leading to costly repairs. Sad because again the mk1&2 were well known for having functioning aircon at very high miles. Thoroughly comfortable with great safety and automation this car is boss at moving great distances especially for rear passenger comfort. If you're going to get one then take my advice and buy a bigger engine (which does just as well on fuel), and a six-speed. Also check for maintenance and if the mileage is 100k or more check to see that the aircon was fixed and egr valve and regeneration solenoid replaced.
