In their own words

My 2009 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 1.6 16V VTi LX model was a very good large family car for the first 7 years - albeit not very economical at approx. 36 - 37mpg. The first problem was a defective battery after 7 years - and there have been electrical problems ever since it was replaced by an identical unit. The (electronically controlled) engine thermostat failed causing the engine fan to to run at full speed. That was replaced - and within 2 years it happened again ! This time, the replacement thermostat did not stop the engine fan from running. The BSI (electronic control board and main fuse) was renewed because the starter lost power. The car now starts and runs ok but the engine fan is constantly running. The problem has now been identified as a defective ECB again - cost of replacement maybe around £900 ? + fitting, etc. My advice - only buy new and trade it in before the guarantee expires - or before it reaches 5 years old or 45000 miles !!!
