Daewoo Espero
  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Can only give it a 3 - it was a lot of car for the money four years ago, but now its resale value is pretty poor.

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

For the size of car it compares to the competitors. The free three-year servicing etc was a boost.

  • On the road

    Driving

    2 out of 5 2.0

Pulls away quite nicely but struggles with a full load. A bit of roll on the corners and suspension could be better.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Does what it does quite well.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    4 out of 5 4.0

    Performs as and when required.

So what ? Its modelled on a Xantia on a Cavalier frame.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

I've driven it 20k miles per year!

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

Not brilliant but it's not a joyriders' target.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Pretty crap really. This is my second car; the first had to be replaced (after a fight) under the Daewoo '30-day replacement' offer due to the amount of faults. This took three months to resolve.
