Daewoo Laganza
  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Lots of electric bits and bobs. Excellent value for money at under £3000 for the top of the range used.

    Costs

Insurance is higher than the Vectra SRi. 27mpg isn't impressive either. Parts are costly and slow (6 months wait for a breath tube).

I found I could throw it around in forward and reverse easier than the Mondeo. You get no respect from other drivers in this car.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not an SRi by any means, but quite a lively 'grandad' car at 130bhp.

Ok up to now. One niggle it has is that on some ocassions the ABS light stays on, but turn engine off and back on and it goes out. Only had it 7 months and looking to go back to the Vectra SRi.

It has been mistaken for a Rover 75 and also a baby jag(?) It certainly looks the part and impressive to someone who knows nothing about bigish cars.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very spacious car with ample room for tall people (6' 4"+) and three kids.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

The SX has an immobiliser, but no alarm at all. It also only has a manual central locking - a real pain with small kids to get out of the car then back to driver door to lock, a bit unsafe in these circumstances.

    Service

    2 out of 5 2.0

Takes too long for parts to come from Singapore. May be better in future now that general motors have taken over.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

None yet, other than the breathe tube disintergrating twice.

    Other

Exhaust rattle. Back box is almost too big for the heat shield.
