  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Reasonable spec for the price - electric windows, central locking, elec sunroof etc.

    Costs

    2 out of 5 2.0

Reasonable efficiency - a tank of petrol cost me about £28 and I'd generally get 300 miles out of it.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Ok for a mid-size hatchback - can throw it at corners and it handles them well, though can tend to lean a bit.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

Not at all bad for a normal 1600. Keep it in low gears and it accelerates like a dream - you can get 60 in second and give GTis a shock! I'm sure I hit 60 in 8.5 seconds one time...

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    1 out of 5 1.0

Absolutely awful. In the four years I had it, the main injector had to be replaced three times (£200 per time), the electrics had to be redone (£100) and what made me get rid in the end was the clutch going - that was £270 too much!

It's a 1.6 hatchback. Looks quite nice, but pretty salt of the earth.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Reasonable, though seats could be more comfy.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

No-one ever broke into it, but apparantly the door locks are awful.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Used Dixons in York (who've now gone bust!) Without exception, they were rude and ignorant. Parts are expensive as well, especially considering how much they had to be replaced (see reliability!)
