  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Relatively cheap second hand and get more for your money than a French super-mini. I bought mine in 2004 for £2,500 with 20,000 on the clock.

    Costs

    2 out of 5 2.0

Running costs are reasonable. Costs around £35 to fill up the tank and you can get about 41mpg through normal driving.

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not brilliant at handling tends to lean through corners. Engine response is not bad though.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Average performance, is faster than most 1.1 litre engines and rivals 1.2 engines well. It is also able to beat 1.2 engines in newer cars with more horse power, because the Punto is very light (870Kg). Expect to hit 0-60 in around 13 seconds.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

Bought with 20,000miles, have almost done 17,000, replaced the exhaust once and an indicator bulb, changed the oil once a year. Never broken down and always starts.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

Looks more modern than its rivals, especially models with metallic paint.

    Comfort

    3 out of 5 3.0

Very spacious compared with its rivals. Can seat 5 adults comfortably, this is where the Punto has the edge over its rivals. Not too bad on long distance driving.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    2 out of 5 2.0

Never been stolen or broken into. Not really a target car for joy riders.
