Other Fiat Stilo (2002 - 2007) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I'm sensible, a bit boring, consider my passengers' comfort and space, enjoy fast big cars (Golf Driver Wannabe).

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Mum: Big, Fast, Drink a Lot of Fuel... your problem now Dad: Sound Buy, I'll nick it every now and again Sister: When can I drive it? Friends: Can I have a lift?

Would you buy this car again and why?

Maybe in a 3 door/ Abarth Variant. Only because I've joined the Fiat Forums and come to learn there are quite a few passionate fanatics that truly value the Italian design and finesse behind this car.

What are you likely to buy next?

    Golf/ Astra/ 1 series BMW.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £1,400

When did you buy the car?

    April 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes I did, was listed for £1700, managed to get the owner down to £1400. I noted out the high biting point on the clutch, stating it looked like it was worn, he explained to me that's how Fiat make the clutch, like in French Cars. I also noted that the car had zero petrol in it and that it was going to be hard to insure and after haggling, i managed to bring it down 300 pounds.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

    What was the dealer like?

Understanding, not over-selling the car, which is good, you should let the car do the talking.

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Well, it's Big and Fast. Nice to weave in and out of traffic on tight roads but quickly gets boring. Steering is a bit more of a challenge with the 'City mode' turned off. But Good Visibility all around the car, and my 1.6 16v Petrol variant does pick up quite fast.

    What's it like to park?

Easy enough. When City Mode is turned on you could probably do it blind- folded with your pinky finger. But that obviously depends on one's parking ability. Reference points are pretty good and you have a fair idea of where all 4 wheels are at all times, which helps.

  • Living with it

    3 out of 5 3.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Very quiet rattling from under the steering wheel when you rev, but goes away after the engine has warmed up. No major problems otherwise.

What's most practical about your car?

Space, tons of it. Not only in the back and passenger seats but even for the driver, with the various adjustments including height adjustment. However, sometimes your left arm may clash with the passenger during gear changes if they have long obtrusive arms.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Not many to choose from, but I'd probably say the on board trip computer. Good for monitoring average MPG and keeping an eye on your driving habits.
