Fiat Uno
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

Bought it second hand for £250.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Very good fuel economy! Tested it myself. Does about 55mpg, no jokes! Ultra-cheap insurance. Cheap parts and hence cheap MOT.

  • On the road

    Driving

    2 out of 5 2.0

The clutch is stiff and the gearstick too loose. Bumpy ride and uncomfortable seats, but what do you expect for £250?

    Performance

    1 out of 5 1.0

I don't think I have ever driven a car as slow or as unwilling as the Uno. Slow acceleration, which gets progressively worse after 50mph.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    3 out of 5 3.0

Had it for 2 years and everything was fine, apart from faulty electrics (costs a fiver for the local mechanic to fix) and the exhaust pipe nearly falling off (cost me £150). Otherwise, not bad for age.

    Image

None. A keen-driving cardboard box on donut wheels.

    Comfort

    2 out of 5 2.0

Not comfortable at all, but to give it credit, it was only ever built for a city car. Don't attempt to cruise on country lanes with it.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    1 out of 5 1.0

None, apart from central locking. It sucked big time, but luckily enough, no-one in their right mind would want to steal it.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Went to the local mechanic. No dealing with Fiat at all.
