  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

It says I am a practical sensible person, but I don't necessarily drive bargain basement.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They think its a sensible move from all the fast costly cars i have been driving for years and that i have FINALLY grown up.

Would you buy this car again and why?

YES. but only this specific one. It is an abseloute peach and the person in the factory who was on that shift when this was made deserves a promotion, but he shouldn't get one as he should still be making terrific cars like this one.

What are you likely to buy next?

I'm going to run it to the ground... probably will take a long time looking at its current track record. But maybe a diesel audi a5 or a vauxhall insignia.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    Yes

    What price did you pay?

    £7,000

When did you buy the car?

    June 2007

Did you get a good deal and why?

Yes she did. The new one was being developed so they were eager to get rid of them, and the climate zetec was a very appealing trim level.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

My mother bought it as a replacement for her 3 year old seat leon which was starting to fall apart, funnily enough when the warranty expired.

    What was the dealer like?

Like any dealer that your buying a brand new car from, very nice as your paying for their wages.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Handles great for what it is, brakes could be better, engine lacks oomph but I'm used to a 2.8 bmw so what do you think I'm, going to think of it? paid £40 in petrol and it got me from glasgow to gloucestershire, so you can't argue with that!

    What's it like to park?

Pretty easy, I am used to parking sensors but no need with this. Pillars aren't too big and the electric wing mirrors adjust to the point where i can see how close i am to the kerb. Decent turning circle too.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Its been almost 7 years and over 70,000 miles and all thats been done is servicing, a cam belt and an air conditioning compressor changed. And that is incredible seeing as though its also never had an advisory on an MoT and also has a lot of extras that could have gone wrong. I drove this car when my hot hatches (golf gtis) and performance cars (bmw coupes) break down, and now i am taking ownership of it as it has always carried on when my other cars have fallen to pieces.

What's most practical about your car?

The seats. The boot isnt great but its a small car, not a minibus.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Hard to decide really. Auto wipers, auto lights, auto folding wing mirrors, air con, heated front windscreen, the car is very well equipped.
