  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

That I couldn't afford something sportier. It says that I'm practical and slightly boring, but overall, I'm alright.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They like it, how could they not!

Would you buy this car again and why?

This exact car, yeah because it's a good motor.

What are you likely to buy next?

Something with a bit more 'umph'. Perhaps a 2.0 Focus or Fiesta.

  • Buying experience

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £1,600

When did you buy the car?

    August 2015

Did you get a good deal and why?

I feel like I got a good deal. 12 year old car, 37000 miles, and he knocked 100 quid off, can't really complain.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

My first car, bought because I finally achieved a full time permanent job that required travelling.

    What was the dealer like?

A bit rag tag, but as long as you buy smart, you're fine. Do business out of a portacabin.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very responsive. The steering feels very natural and the throttle response is enough to help the car feel nippy. It pulls well in second and third and you can cruise very nicely in 5th at about 35mph. The gear shifting is short and snappy, helping the car to feel 'racey'. At speed it will do around 3500 revs at 70mph but it can easily cruise at 80mph. Uphill can be a tad more interesting. At speed, all fine. But if you have to slow down, expect to be shifting to 2nd as 3rd can struggle. Overall, it's a cracking drive. The 1.4 feels very nice.

    What's it like to park?

The car is easy enough to park, electric mirrors help. It does feel very 'big' when trying to park but once you get over this, you are fine.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Been using it for around three/four months now, just had to fit a new starter motor and battery. However, the battery was an original (it lasted 12 years!) and the starter motor was on the way out anyway.

What's most practical about your car?

Five doors, without a shadow of a doubt.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

I love the radio control stalk just below the steering wheel. The front heated windscreen is useful as well.
