Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

Apart from the faults already mentioned, the car has performed well, and never failed to start even ion the coldest of mornings. The engine (diesel) will even start without the glow plugs heating up. It's been a faithful workhorse (and still is), carrying heavy loads over long distances without complaint. The ECU could be a bit more intelligent: a few years ago, all glow plugs failed - not all at once, but over a period of several months. Starting became increasingly sluggish, then, when the last plug failed the ECU complained and put the engine into slo-mo (poor acceleration, top speed 56mph, engine speed 2500rpm). So the ECU thinks it's harmful to drive fast under such conditions! After changing the plugs, the engine warning light still needed resetting -an easy task but one that's not covered in the Haynes manual or in the Ford owner's manual.

How reliable do you find the car?

The car suffered a major failure in 2017: fatigue cracks occurred in the soldered joints of the multi-pin plug in the back of the instrument panel. This shut down EVERYTHING. Engine was DEAD. In 2016 dual mass flywheel suffered broken springs. Swapped for a single mass flywheel. Otherwise the car runs very well and the engine has plenty of power and speed- Good pulling power and good acceleration. But heaven help you if anything electronic goes wrong when you are in the middle of nowhere- but I suppose that goes for all cars these days.
