Other Ford Focus (2005 - 2011) models:

  • Summary

    5 out of 5 5.0

What does this car say about you?

Not sure. But that car looks brilliant, drives amazingly, is very easy on fuel - did nearly 600 miles on the first tank full, and very practical. Guess it says I value those things.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Love it. Girlfriend finds it extremely comfortable.

Would you buy this car again and why?

In a heart beat. I'd consider the youngest possible car of this model in the future. Prefer the look of it to the new focus.

What are you likely to buy next?

Won't be for a very long time I hope. But probably another Focus, or possibly the new B Max when they enter the used market.

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Independent

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £7,990

When did you buy the car?

    July 2012

Did you get a good deal and why?

I feel I did overall get good deal. Was given reasonable p/x rate for my old car. They threw in Tax, Service, MOT and a full tank of diesel to sweeten the deal. Unfortunately the rear tires needed replacing and a full wheel alignment was necessary very soon after purchasing it.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Wanted a Ford as I'd had such a good experience with my older Fiesta. Went for this model as it had rave reviews,.strong performance, great mpg, decent practicality and also was meant to be comfortable for long journeys.

    What was the dealer like?

Very pleasant, let us take the car for test drive by myself, no fuss. Good price and service.

  • Driving it

    5 out of 5 5.0

    What's it like to drive?

Best car i've ever driven. Very comfortable, soaks up pot holes and speed bumps easily. Took it down the bumpiest road imaginable on test drive and it simply glided over it. Comfy for passengers as well, good sound insulation means it's very quiet even at motorway speeds. In terms of performance the engine is brilliant, can hurtle you forward when you want it to and pulls effortlessly up hills. Handles like no other car I've driven, just glues itself to the road and feels incredibly secure. Handling really direct and good feedback. Simply a joy to drive.

    What's it like to park?

Quite easy. I still haven't fully worked out the angles on it though so it's too early to say. No problem in terms of size though. Feels much bigger than my old car in all the right ways without actually being too much larger when manoeuvring.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Only owned it a few weeks so bit early to say. Wheels needed realigning but that was the case before I bought it. There was pronounced shake from steering wheel above 50mph. But that's sorted after wheels rebalanced etc.

What's most practical about your car?

Huge boot. Much bigger than I even need at the moment but looking to the future with that one. Swallows anything I've put in it so far. rear bench splits and will fold flat with seat cushions slid forward. Very easy to do. Love having arm rest with stowage inside. HUGE glove box - plenty deep enough but could do with being a bit wider.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Trip computer - probably play with it a bit too much checking what effects mpg etc. Also like the steering mounted radio controls. Good to have the aux in port but just a shame it's in the glove box. Love the pull out armrest.
