What does this car say about you?

That I need to replace it if I want to go anywhere.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

    Not much

Definitely not. Since it packed in I have heard of other diesel mondeos of a similar age and mileage with the same problem.

    £12,000

    June 2005

Did you get a good deal and why?

OK- it was in good condition and about the price you would expect for age and mileage

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Our previous car was a petrol Mondeo which we had for 8 years and had very few problems with.

    Fine

  • Driving it

    3 out of 5 3.0

    What's it like to drive?

Comfortable and easy to drive on good roads, ideal for motorways. Not good on the steep, narrow single track roads where I do the majority of my driving. It felt very clumsy. It also stalled very easily, no matter how experienced the driver was. A very difficult car for a learner to start in (almost impossible).

    What's it like to park?

OK as long as you have found a large enough space.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Yes. The head gasket blew at 60 000 miles- car 4 years old. The car has therefore been written off as replacin the engine would be so costly.

What's most practical about your car?

Before it packed in, the amount of space it offered for luggage could not be faulted, though we very rarely needed as much space.
