Ford Orion 1990
  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Good equipment for model and price. Slightly cheaper than escorts.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Typical Ford. Cheap and readily available parts.

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

Comfortable enough for long journeys. Corners really well, with hardly any roll.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

Lacks grunt. Will happily sit at 80-90mph all day long on motorways. Not bad rounded power through revs and gears. 3rd gear is best and 5th gear will pull well from 50mph.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    2 out of 5 2.0

Never broke down once in 2.5 years. Weak cheap parts can mount up costs of running and servicing.

I think they look pretty good, especially with alloys.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Long mileage trips are not a problem. Didn't need to stretch for at least 3 hours.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    1 out of 5 1.0

Dead locks, alarm and immobiliser aren't enough. You need Aftermarket precautions if you wanna keep it.

    Service

    1 out of 5 1.0

Never used them. Too expensive and can never be trusted.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Tappets need adjusting and replacing about once a year to keep running smooth. Head gasket leaks.

    Other

Fuse box slowly dies, taking out anything electric one by one.
