Honda Civic Coupe 1994-
  • Economy

    Value

    4 out of 5 4.0

Great value for money, economical on petrol and parts price not as bad as some may think. The only complaint is that insurance is overrated. Missing some extras that were available on cars of similar age.

    Costs

    4 out of 5 4.0

Purchase price and insurance are about the only complaints here, other than that it's quite affordable and, apart from a very awkward oil filter, general maintenance and servicing relatively simple.

  • On the road

    Driving

    5 out of 5 5.0

Average ride through city, although surprisingly smooth on motorway with light and precise steering.

    Performance

    5 out of 5 5.0

I own a 1.5 LSi with average miles and the car still drives like new. Very quiet engine when driven sensibly, but if revved up then it has one mean roar. Performs great round city and can still reach 120mph with 3 passengers (not that I've ever tried it).

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Not had a problem yet, always ready to go.

Civic coupe would appeal to young and middle aged people, although Honda could have been a little more exciting by introducing the VTi in the coupe in this country alternatively an 1800cc engine. Does have all-round good looks, more sleek than a BMW 3!

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Frontal seating just as comfortable as a Merc as for the back, I don't know because I don't let anybody else drive it! Great comfort on straight road and slightly bumpy in city, but makes up for it in performance and looks.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    3 out of 5 3.0

Not the greatest for this, but then again certainly not the worst by any means. Does come with immobiliser which is better than nothing.

    Service

    5 out of 5 5.0

As far as parts and servicing goes, the dealerships are always helpful and friendly. They could be a little more up to speed with identifying engine probs, though.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

    Sweet.

    Other

Engine and bodywork modifications don't come cheap. You could keep it simple and practicle by changing alloys, exhaust and adding induction kit. Beware of overglorified fuel pressure regulators, also known as power boost valves?

    Ownership

Did you buy the car new?

    Used

Would you buy the same model again?

    Yes

Did you buy from the same manufacturer again?

    Yes
