Honda Civic Coupe 1996-
  • Economy

    Value

    5 out of 5 5.0

3 grand second hand for a car with 30k on the clock. great value at this stage

    Costs

    3 out of 5 3.0

two part exhaust , both parts around 130 euro. But very close to same running cost as the non vtec LSi - but cheaper insurance due to the ABS as standard. around 370-400 miles to the 45 litre tank

  • On the road

    Driving

    4 out of 5 4.0

City driving is easy on clutch and brakes as power only kicks in at higher rpm. Clutch can hold the car on steepest inclines with no extra gas. engine will kick in and regulate fuel at low revs to stop 'low rev judder'.

    Performance

    4 out of 5 4.0

keeps on delivering the power right to the 7200 limit. marked increase compared with the non vtec model. Needs to be kept above 4500 for most enjoyment but still torquey around 2500 for city driving. excellent handling with 15"" low profile tyre upgrade

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Bullet proof, although exhausts go if you hammer the vtec.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

Fairly unknown variant. most Civic Coupe's are LSi or mad VTi's, SRi takes the middle ground, that only aficionados will know.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

stiffer ride than non vtec, but still double wishbone smooth. Air Con great for rear passengers as rear windows do not open.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    4 out of 5 4.0
